SAN BENEDETTO · SEA

BeachesThe palm-lined seafront, beach clubs, free beaches.

San Benedetto's beaches are of fine sand with a gentle shelf, ideal for children and adults alike. Worth knowing: along much of the seafront there are breakwater reefs some twenty metres from the shore — they protect the beach from erosion and create a stretch of calm sea, almost a natural swimming pool, perfect if you're travelling with children. Anyone who prefers open sea without barriers tends to go for the Grottammare beach (just to the north, 1.7 km from the house along the seafront): the coast there has no breakwaters, so the waves come in full. The concessions (beach clubs) have loungers and parasols; free beaches alternate with the clubs.

Beach clubs near the house · Viale Trieste

The clubs closest to the house are those on Viale Trieste — the first section of the seafront, about 10 minutes on foot. The official municipal numbering: Bacio dell'Onda (No. 1), Da Luigi (No. 2), Kontiki (No. 4), Bagni da Federico (No. 5), La Medusa (No. 6), La Conchiglia (No. 7), Bagni 007 (No. 10), Miramare Beach (No. 12), and others up to No. 18. They all have parasols, loungers, a bar/restaurant right on the sand, and look out onto the sea sheltered by the breakwaters.

house note · The choice is personal — look at the photos of each on spiagge.it. The rates are similar (€25–28/day at the height of summer, weekly more affordable). Reserve a few days ahead in July–August.

Free beaches · along the seafront

Free beaches alternate with the concessions along the seafront: a first free stretch right at the start of the line of clubs, then the concessions, then more free stretches further on. No need to book — bring a parasol and a lounger from the house's courtyard, they're in the storeroom area.

house note · Note: the area near the harbour (Molo Sud) is NOT for swimming. For a swim always head towards the palm-lined seafront — the free stretches between the clubs are safe and clean.

    Grottammare beaches · open sea

Just north of our seafront, beyond the municipal boundary, Grottammare begins. The main difference from San Benedetto: no breakwater reefs. The waves come in freely, the sea is open. For anyone who prefers to swim in the "real" sea, without the sheltered zone typical of SBT, it's the natural alternative. The start of the Grottammare beach is 1.7 km from the house — about 23 minutes on foot along the seafront, or 8–10 minutes by bike. The clubs there have slightly lower rates (€20–22/day in high season).

house note · For anyone after open waves. By bike from the seafront you get there in 10 minutes — no need for the car. By regional train: 10 minutes from the station.

How to choose · prices and booking

One thing to know first: beach-club prices vary for all sorts of reasons, there's no fixed rate. It depends on where you sit (close to the sea costs more than mid-beach, and mid-beach more than near the chalet), on how long you stay (half a day, a day, a week, a month, the whole season), on the day of the week and on the time of summer. Often some loungers are kept aside for people taking only half a day or a single day; others — the front-row ones nearest the sea — may be reserved for people booking at least a couple of days in a row. The most practical way to choose is to go to the seafront, do the rounds of a few chalets, ask the price, see what they offer and where you feel most at home: one has a shower right on the beach, another a restaurant on the concession, another a bar with artisan ice creams, another spaces its parasols more widely (more room between them). The choice is personal, and feeling good on the beach is made of details. Even in the height of summer you'll nearly always find a spot — maybe not the front row, but a spot, yes. For the best loungers in July–August, it's better to book a few days ahead. Below, the average 2025–2026 prices and the sites to compare and contact the clubs directly.

Parasol + 2 loungers · July (SBT)
€25/day · approx
Parasol + 2 loungers · August (SBT)
€28/day · approx
Grottammare (just to the north)
€20–22/day
Cupra Marittima (9 km north)
€17–20/day
Weekly and seasonal rates
Far better value — roughly €100–150/week, €750–900 for the whole season

Useful sites to compare and book

house note · In July and August it pays to book a few days ahead. For stays of a week or more, the weekly rates are far better value than day-by-day. The clubs closest to the house are those on Viale Trieste, concessions nos. 1–18 (~10 minutes on foot).

Flags

🟢 green · swimming allowed · 🟡 yellow · caution · 🔴 red · no swimming (rare). Always check before you go in, especially after storms.

Tides

Adriatic tides are small (~30 cm). Higher in the morning, lower in the afternoon. No serious risks, but useful to know if you need calm water for the children.
