The TV is already logged into all our subscriptions — Sky, Netflix, Amazon Prime, RaiPlay. Nothing to enter, just switch on and watch. There are two remotes, and each is for a different scenario: both switch the TV on, but after that they're used in tandem. The two short videos below show the most-requested moves.

1. 01

   Two remotes · what each one does

   The white remote with sky written on it is for when you want to watch Sky: it switches the TV on and, in a single move, goes to the Sky channel. The black (LG) remote is for the TV itself and the installed apps (Netflix, Amazon Prime, RaiPlay): it switches the TV on and gives you the Smart menu with the app icons. Both can switch the TV off.

2. 02

   For Sky · the white remote

   Press the power button on the white Sky remote (top left, the ⏻ symbol). The Sky box comes on and the TV switches automatically to the HDMI 1 input: the Sky Home screen appears. From there, navigate with the arrows and press OK in the centre. The first video above shows the move in 24 seconds.

3. 03

   For Netflix, Amazon, RaiPlay · the black remote

   The apps are installed on the TV itself, independently of Sky. Press the SMART button on the black LG remote (the button with the small colourful house, bottom left). The app menu opens. Scroll with the arrows to Netflix (or the app you want), press OK. It loads, you choose the "La Tana Dei Dalmatini" profile and you're in. The second video above shows the whole route.

4. 04

   If Sky has problems · switch to the apps with the black remote

   In bad weather (strong wind, storms) the Sky satellite signal can drop for a few minutes — you'll see a black screen or a "no signal" message. It isn't a fault with the system, it comes back on its own as soon as the weather improves. In the meantime, the apps installed on the TV (Netflix, Amazon, RaiPlay) work over the Wi-Fi and are independent of the satellite. Pick up the black remote, press SMART, choose what to watch.

5. 05

   The Sky box · please don't unplug it

   Under the TV is the small Sky box — it's what makes the white remote and the whole Sky side work. Now and then a guest unplugs it thinking to save electricity or to reset something: please don't. When it's powered back up it doesn't always reconnect on its own — sometimes it needs reconfiguring (account, box ID, satellite), and until then Sky doesn't work. If it seems to you to use too much power, just switch it off with the remote: it goes into standby.
