The laundry area is next to the apartment's entrance, on the same level (at the top of the internal staircase · see the le-stanze page). A stacked Siemens washing machine and dryer. The detergent tablets are in the box above the machine — just put one in the drum with the clothes.

Loading the washing machine
Open it, put the clothes in, add a detergent tablet straight into the drum (they're in the box above). Close it firmly.

Programme
The dial on the panel: "40° everyday eco" (the default) is ideal. For towels and sheets: "60° cotton".

Starting
Press START (the blue button). The cotton programme takes about 4 hours. The machine stops on its own.

Dryer (optional) · the default programme is best
Transfer the clothes to the machine above. When you switch it on it sets itself to the best programme: we suggest leaving it, it dries better than any other. Do NOT put in the dryer: woollen jumpers, delicate underwear.

Emptying the dryer's water tray · by hand
The dryer collects the condensed water in a pull-out tray (with the Siemens label) on the side of the machine — it doesn't drain on its own. After each drying cycle pull it out, empty it into the sink, put it back in its place. If it fills up, the machine stops halfway through the cycle.
