LIVING IN THE HOUSE

French windows · tilt-and-turnEvery door and window has three handle positions. They're heavy but easy if used calmly.

All the French windows in the house (garden, balconies, large windows) have the same tilt-and-turn mechanism. The handle has three positions and each does something different. They're heavy doors but the mechanism is solid — just use them calmly and don't force them.

    Position 1 · Closed

Handle pointing down: the door is closed and locked. It's the only position in which the seal keeps out the air and the rain.

  2. 02

    Position 2 · Open like a door

Handle horizontal (90°): the door opens swinging on the side hinges, like an ordinary door.

  3. 03

    Position 3 · Tilt (vasistas)

Handle pointing up: the top of the door tilts inwards to air the room, staying hooked at the bottom. Handy at night to circulate air without opening fully.

    How to change position

Close the door first (it must be touching the frame), then turn the handle. If the handle won't turn, the door isn't in position — don't force it.
